Canada issued 635 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on September 1.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only invited candidates who had previously received a provincial nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
To receive an invitation, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 764. Since Express Entry PNP candidates automatically receive 600 additional CRS points with their provincial nomination, the number of points a candidate would have had without the nomination was 164.
The IRCC released information on the cut-off time for the tie-break rule, as per administrative requirements. The tie-break rule is published regardless of whether there was an actual tie. Candidates who had the minimum CRS score, must have submitted their Express Entry profile before April 12, 2021, at 12:21:45 UTC.
IRCC has issued 106,414 ITAs to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence, so far in 2021. At this time last year, IRCC had only issued 65,750 ITAs to Express Entry candidates. IRCC is very close to their target of welcoming 108,500 newcomers through the Express Entry system in 2021.
Candidates who received an ITA in this draw now have sixty (60) days to apply for Canadian permanent residency. If the application is approved, IRCC will issue a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). Once approved, candidates can complete the landing process to finalize their permanent residency in Canada.
Express Entry is an applicant management system. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) use the system. PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool have previously qualified for one of these programs.
Express Entry uses a points-based system, the CRS, to rank candidates’ profiles. The top scoring candidates receive an ITA for permanent residence in a subsequent draw.
